Sürücü, Ozan Gönül'ün ölümüne sebep olmasıyla tutuksuz yargılanıyor.
Last year in December, Ozan Gönül, who was 22 years old, lost his life in a traffic accident in Ordu when he was hit by the driver T.D., who was subsequently arrested the day after the incident but released on February 20th. Despite expert reports and details revealed during the court process indicating that the driver was heavily at fault, the family's request for the driver to remain in custody has not been granted yet. T.D., who had turned onto a side road from the Ordu-Giresun State Highway, collided with Ozan Gönül who had just gotten off a minibus. According to expert reports, Gönül was walking on the right side of the road with no violations. Due to the impact of the collision, Gönül was thrown onto the front windshield of the car and lost his life at the scene. Technical examinations conducted after the accident revealed that the speedometer of the vehicle driven by T.D. remained stuck at 210 km/h. The defendant claimed that the speedometer was faulty and he did not know his actual speed, but expert reports indicated that he was indeed speeding. Additionally, it was alleged that there was a film obstructing the driver's view on the front windshield, which is prohibited, and that he was talking on the phone at the time of the accident. Father Gönül stated that the accident was not merely a traffic accident but a murder resulting from a chain of conscious negligence. The family has requested the defendant's detention pending trial, but no decision has been made so far. Father Gönül emphasized the insufficiency of traffic accident laws in Turkey and stated that they would pursue their son's case to the end. The trial for the death of Ozan Gönül is scheduled for May 8th at the 5th Criminal Court of First Instance in Ordu, where the family demands the driver's detention due to severe fault and justice.
